The ‘Forward 100: Birmingham At War’ project will be running alongside BBC Birmingham’s planned events to mark the First World War centenary, and will form an interactive exhibition in BBC Birmingham’s Public Space.
The exhibition will have three main parts: an interactive map display of Birmingham featuring information about the city during the war years and in 2014; a revised reprint of The “Southern” Cross magazine, including articles from the original publication alongside new pieces written by those involved in military action now; and a visual installation piece created using polyurethane resin, working with ex-military officers who were injured while serving in Afghanistan.
This exhibition will be in place during the summer holidays, throughout which a series of free workshops will also be organised linking to the centenary and First World War more generally. For further information about any aspect of the project, please email us at email@example.com
